Construction will begin late 2010 and is expected to be complete by 2012. The $13 million project includes a partial remodel of the interior spaces which will allow for greater efficiency and increased amenities. The new additions add up to approximately 19,000 square-feet, and the interior remodel covers approximately 10,000 square-feet.
“Our plan is to modernize the building in order to meet the current needs of the police force,” said Don Blair, president of KMA. “With the new additions, the building will enhance the effectiveness of the work done there in the future.”
The multi-wing addition will also increase overall office space and will include a fitness facility, training area, emergency operations center, and crime scene investigation lab.
The seven-year-old police station is undergoing the expansion in order to grow with the rapid increase of the city’s population and police staffing. Murrieta is one of the few cities in southwest Riverside County that has its own police department.
The KMA project team includes Don Blair, Jim Belmont, Antonio Bernardo, Walt Chambers, Jay Guerrero, John Hilgeman, Bill Karrasch and Neville Willsmore.
