Our team is business oriented and exceptionally knowledgeable in programming, building economics, real estate development, engineering, sustainability and other related disciplines that impact the overall success of a building design. Out of these broad interests we have developed a unique approach to architecture that we refer to as a “creative analytical” approach. This is an approach that seamlessly combines creative and analytical methods into a design process in which the spatial and functional aspects of architecture carry equal importance and are developed in response to each other. In addition to traditional architectural methods such as sketches, drawings, photography, physical models and digital work, the KMA team has developed a unique proprietary set of analytical tools that we call “spreadsheet architecture.” Spreadsheet architecture enables the design team to model a building numerically (areas, volumes, efficiencies, projected costs, etc.), as well as spatially through drawings and models, throughout the entire design process from initial concepts through Design Development. Our unique analytical tools allow us to develop a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of building performance and to effectively evaluate trade-offs and alternatives in order to identify the most promising design scheme from the initial portfolio of alternate ideas.
